The John and Margaret Sinclaire Foundation emerged from years of discussions between Margaret Sinclaire and her adult children. While philanthropy was an uncontested value of the Sinclaire family, how best to achieve this was an open discussion. Eventually, the idea of a family foundation emerged as an effective way of achieving charitable goals. It allowed the family to pool talents and resources to make a difference in its own small way.

As a result, the John and Margaret Sinclaire foundation was formed in 2006. It was not however, operational until 2013 following the death of Margaret Sinclaire. The Foundation was named after Margaret Sinclaire (1927- 2012)  and her husband John (1923 – 1997). Their children wished to honor their legacy and to pay tribute to the values of John and Margaret instilled in their family while raising their seven children.

The foundation is now run by these adult children and their grandchildren as a testimony to a strong belief is the responsibility of individuals and groups to preserve and protect the environment for the generations to come and to foster justice for human and animal life.
